Advocacy & Community Service

I personally support and work with the following non-profit organizations (in alphabetical order).

  • Who they are: Active 20-30 is a non-profit organization that provides adults between the ages of 20 and 39 with an opportunity for personal growth, friendships, and leadership development while improving the quality of life for the special needs of children in our communities.
  • My personal involvement: Past Active Member, Former Web Master

American Cancer Society (ACS)

VIP Reception for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Sacramento 2017
  • Who they are: The American Cancer Society is on a mission to free the world from cancer. Until they do, they’ll be funding and conducting research, sharing expert information, supporting patients, and spreading the word about prevention. All so patients and survivors can live longer — and better.
  • My personal involvement: Spotlight Speaker at VIP Reception, Top 10 Fundraiser for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Sacramento, Cancer Action Network (CAN) Volunteer, Legislative Advocate

Front Street Animal Shelter – Sacramento

Front Street Animal Shelter Volunteer
  • Who they are:  The Front Street Animal Shelter provides animal welfare services for the City of Sacramento, including but not limited to:
    • Transporting sick or injured stray animals
    • Rescuing animals locked inside hot vehicles and from abusive, cruel, or negligent conditions
    • Impounding stray dogs, whether they are friendly or aggressive, that roam freely on the street, on public property, or at a citizen’s residence
    • Helping citizens resolve nuisance problems, such as dogs barking excessively
    • Investigating dog and cat bite complaints
    • Educating pet owners on the importance of spaying or neutering their dogs and cats

More importantly, they keep lost pets safe and sound so that they can hopefully be reunited with their owner or adopted into a new family.

  • My personal involvement: Dog and Kitten Foster, Shelter Volunteer

  • Who they are: METAvivor is dedicated to the specific fight of women and men living with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. At the time of METAvivor’s founding, no organization was dedicated to funding research for the disease and no patient groups were speaking out about the dearth of stage 4 cancer research.  While more and more people have taken up the cry for more stage 4 research, METAvivor remains the sole US organization dedicated to awarding annual stage 4 breast cancer research.
  • My personal involvement: Volunteer, Planning Committee Member for 2017 Legislative Advocacy Day in Washington, DC

Women in Technology International (WITI)

  • Who they are: WITI was founded to help women advance by providing access to – and support from – other professional women working in all sectors of technology. WITI started in 1989 as The International Network of Women in Technology and, in 2001, evolved into The WITI Professional Association, the world’s leading trade association for tech-savvy women. Today, WITI is the premiere global organization empowering women in business and technology to achieve unimagined possibilities.
